Planning a trip to Suriname? Good news! The WHO (World Health Organisation) has officially declared Suriname malaria-free. That means no more preventive malaria tablets!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 30 June, the WHO released the news that there is no more malaria in Suriname. This voids all anti-malaria measures for the country. It is therefore no longer advised by the LCR (National Coordination Centre for Travel Advice). Other mosquito-borne diseases, such as dengue and zika, do remain in the country. Protective measures against these mosquitoes therefore remain in force. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this mean for my journey?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For your upcoming trip to Suriname, you no longer need to apply for preventive malaria tablets. However, vaccinations may be recommended for you, this depends on your travel details and health. You are also advised to continue taking the following anti-mosquito measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Wear long trousers and long sleeves<\/li>\n\n\n\n
