Due to an increase in measles cases in Mexico, the measles vaccination advice has been adjusted in consultation with RIVM-LCI. The outbreak, which started in the state of Chihuahua, has now spread to other regions.

A measles vaccination recommendation now applies to all of Mexico. The amended measles vaccination advice will be immediately updated in the digital country list. The ‘I20 - Country List’ document will also be updated on 16 March 2026.

LCR opinion:
Vaccination is recommended to travellers born from 1965 onwards if they have not experienced measles or have never been vaccinated against measles. Vaccination is also recommended to children older than 6 months who have not yet received a BMR vaccination according to the National Vaccination Programme.
