Yellow fever stamps can be rejected if you have an old vaccination booklet.
Do you need a yellow fever vaccination for your next travel destination? Or maybe you have been previously vaccinated against yellow fever and will be travelling with it soon? Be aware that your yellow fever vaccination certificate may be refused upon arrival at your travel destination. This is because some countries only accept proof of vaccination in the new vaccination booklets.
What is yellow fever?
Yellow fever is a serious viral infection transmitted by infected mosquitoes, mainly in tropical areas of Africa and South America. The disease can cause fever, jaundice (where the skin and eyes turn yellow), liver and kidney failure, and in some cases even death. The virus has no specific treatment, making prevention crucial. Vaccination against yellow fever is highly effective and provides lifelong protection after a single dose. Travel to high-risk areas often requires the vaccine, and an international vaccination certificate is issued to prove vaccination.
Why is it rejected?
In some countries, it has been made compulsory to be vaccinated against yellow fever. This applies mainly to many countries in Africa and South America. Upon arrival in the country, you should show your proof of yellow fever vaccination in your vaccination booklet. Although a yellow fever vaccination is valid for life, it may be rejected in the country of arrival. These countries will only accept the new versions Of the yellow vaccination booklet.
