What vaccinations do I need for Mecca?

Compulsory vaccinations

The Saudi Ministry of Health mandates the following vaccinations for pilgrims travelling to Mecca.

This vaccine is mandatory for everyone aged 1 year and above. The vaccine must be administered within 5 years before arrival and at least 10 days before arrival.

Frequently asked questions

We recommend making your appointment at Vaccination Point as early as possible. The mandatory meningococcal vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before arriving in Mecca. However, recommended vaccinations may also apply to you, which have an interval of several months.

Yes! At Vaccination Point, we recommend only the vaccinations that are important to you. We administer these only if you consent. So you are not obliged to agree. However, keep in mind that the meningococcal vaccination is compulsory in Mecca and that you always pay a consultation fee for our advice. Óeven if you do not agree or cancel the appointment.

The Saudi Health Ministry has required Mekka-goers to be checked for meningococcal vaccination. Do you have a yellow vaccination booklet? Then bring it with you to your appointment so that our nurse can place the correct stamp. Don't have a vaccination booklet? Then you can purchase one during your visit.

If you are travelling to Saudi Arabia but not going to Mecca, recommended vaccinations still apply, such as DTP, BMR and hepatitis A. The meningitis vaccine may also be recommended for you, however this is not a requirement.
