GGD or Vaccination Point? This is what you pay for travel vaccinations

GGD or Vaccination Point: where is the best place to go for your travel vaccinations? Research by travel platform weflycheap shows that GGD rates can differ by region by up to €136 for exactly the same package. At Vaccinatiepunt, you pay the same price anywhere in the Netherlands and many vaccinations are also (partly) reimbursed through your supplementary health insurance.

GGD rates: up to €136 difference for same package

Weflycheap surveyed the rates of all 24 GGD regions in the Netherlands for the four most common travel vaccinations: DTP, hepatitis A, rabies and yellow fever. The outcome is striking: for a full vaccination package including consultations, an adult at GGD Dordrecht will pay €463.89, while at GGD Amsterdam you will plunk down €600.00. That's 29% more for exactly the same thing.

For children, the difference runs as high as 30%. And for a family of two adults and two children, the bill can be over €527 higher, based purely on the region where you happen to live.

The biggest outliers are with DTP, one of the most recommended travel vaccinations. There, the rate ranges from €25.24 to €56.00: a difference of 122% for the same shot.

Vaccination point: fixed rates wherever you live

At Vaccination Point, it works differently. Through our nationwide network of more than 90 locations, you pay the same amount for the same vaccination anywhere in the Netherlands. No surprises on the bill, no calculations in advance.

All advice is based on the guidelines of the National Coordination Centre for Travel Advice (LCR), so you can be sure to get the right advice for your destination, travel duration and personal situation.

Many travel vaccinations are (partly) reimbursed

Another advantage often unknown to travellers: through Vaccinatiepunt, many travel vaccinations are (partially) reimbursed by supplementary health insurance. Think hepatitis A and B, DTP, yellow fever and rabies. What exactly is reimbursed depends on your insurer and your package. It is always worth checking in advance with your health insurer and on our reimbursement page.

Start on time

Some vaccinations consist of several shots, spread over several weeks. Want to travel well protected? Then plan well in advance, preferably six to eight weeks before departure.
